April 22, 2025 - Trailing 3-1 after five innings of varsity softball at Columbus East on Monday evening, the Bull Dogs exploded for eleven runs in the top half of the sixth inning and rolled to a 12-4 victory over the Olympians, improving to 4-4 for the season. The Dogs sent 17 batters to the plate in the decisive sixth inning, including home runs by Payton Morris and Lily Retz. Bailee Scruggs had already hit a solo shot in the fourth inning. Nine hitter recorded hits for the Bull Dogs, including three by Morris, who also tallied three RBI. The Dogs only struck out three times in 35 at-bats for the game. Scruggs went the distance for the Dogs in the pitcher’s circle, giving up four runs (two earned) on five hits, while striking out seven and walking just one. The JV closed the night with a 6-5 victory in the late game to improve to 2-2-1 for the season. The Bull Dogs won’t have much time to celebrate their cross-town victory as they host Conference Indiana foe Bloomington North this evening (April 22), beginning at 5:30 pm.
