April 21, 2025 - After a 3-1 start to the season, the Columbus North baseball team has dropped five straight, including both ends of a Saturday doubleheader in Kokomo on Saturday (April 19) to a pair of programs with a rich baseball history. Andrean, currently ranked number two in Class 3A, scored seven runs in the final three innings to break open a 2-2 ball game through four innings. Joey Fry pitched five innings for the Dogs, giving up three runs (two earned) on four hits. Fry struck out eight and walked only two in his outing. Dillon Long came on in the sixth and allowed three runs (all unearned) on three hits while striking out one in one inning of work. Jayden Adorno finished the game, throwing a three-run, three hit seventh inning. Adorno walked a pair of batters and struck out none in his inning of work. Four defensive errors and just one hit (by Brock Kintner) doomed the Bull Dogs in game one. Three more errors in the second game against Class 4A second ranked, and defending state champion Lake Central, led to a 10-0 defeat. Jayce Emmitt got the start in game two, lasting three innings. He allowed five runs (two earned) on five hits, while striking out three and walking one. Franko Ortega threw ⅔ of an inning and allowed three earned runs on two hits. Ortega walked two and struck out one. Kintner threw an inning and one-third, allowing two runs on two hits, walking three and fanning two before handing the ball over to Jesse Clark with the bases loaded. Clark walked both batters he faced, scoring two runs and bringing an end to a 10-0 defeat. The Bull Dogs’ varsity game at Bedford North Lawrence on Monday night (April 21) was canceled due to a scheduling issue, but the JV team will still play at BNL at 5:30. The Bull Dogs will then host Franklin Central on Tuesday evening. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm at the Southside Elementary diamonds.
