Columbus North boys soccer celebrates a sectional title after a 1-0 victory over Columbus East on Saturday, October 10. The title was the 17th in program history. North will face Bloomington South in the regional championship.

October 12, 2026 - Despite outshooting Columbus East 22-1 and controlling the ball throughout most of the match, Columbus North just couldn’t find the back of the net in the championship match of the East Central boys soccer sectional. Luccas Peda then took a pass from Ben Wiltrout and ripped a shot past the Olympian goalkeeper for a 1-0 lead with nine minutes remaining in the match. That’s all the Bull Dogs would need as they went on to claim a 1-0 victory and their 17th sectional championship in program history. In addition to their commanding advantage in total shots, North held Columbus East to no shots on goal while totalling six of their own. The sectional championship was the Bull Dogs’ first since 2023. North (10-3-4) will face Bloomington South (14-1-3) at the Bloomington South Regional on Thursday at 6:00 pm. The Panthers won an earlier matchup with the Dogs 2-1 on September 22. It was the first loss of the season for North. The Columbus North vs Bloomington South winner will face the winner of the Castle Regional between Floyd Central (8-8-3) and Castle (16-2-1) on Saturday, October 17 at Seymour.
