Dogs claim Cardinal Ritter Invitational title as Denny surpasses 1000 career assists

August 16, 2026 - Columbus North girls volleyball got their season started with a bang, finishing 3-0 in the Cardinal Ritter Invitational on Saturday, August 15, to claim the team title. The Dogs beat the host school 2-1 (25-15, 24-26, 15-6) before knocking off the Indiana School for the Deaf 2-0 (25-17, 25-21), and Evansville Central 2-1 (23-25, 25-7, 15-9). Lexi Denny tallied 69 assists for the tournament, including the 1000th of her career in the third set of the opening match. Izabella Rice had 21 kills and Sydni Schiefer added 17, while Shelby Sharp topped the Dogs with ten service aces. At the net, Sophie Rohls had five blocks, and Kyndal Wheeler led the back row with 17 digs. The Bull Dogs have a very busy week ahead, starting off with a home match against New Palestine on Monday night. Freshmen and JV will begin at 6:00, with varsity to follow the JV match.
