June 16, 2026 - Following approval by the BCSC School Board at the June 15 meeting, Columbus North is proud to introduce and welcome new head football coach Buster Davis. Davis takes over following the resignation of Logan Haston, who left at the end of the school year for a coaching position at Franklin College. Davis comes to Columbus North from Manor, Texas, where he was the defensive coordinator and interim head coach during this past off-season at Manor High School. Following a very successful playing career at Florida State University in 2006, and then NFL stops with the Arizona Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, Detroit Lions, and Houston Texans, Davis entered the coaching profession where he has experience at a number of collegiate and high school programs. “The places that I’ve played and coached have all helped to build me for this position at Columbus North,” Davis explained. Davis received an undergraduate degree in History from Florida State, and has two master’s degrees, one from the University of South Dakota in Higher Education, and one from Savannah State in Business Administration. Davis is also pursuing a Doctorate of Business Administration from Liberty University. Davis will teach in the Physical Education department, where he has extensive high school and collegiate experience, as well as an Assistant Athletic Director at Columbus North. “I believe Columbus North has the potential to be built into a state power. This move to Columbus will help create stability for my family, and we are excited for this new opportunity,” Davis said when describing what attracted him to this position. “I want to be more than just a head football coach. I really want to positively impact the Columbus community as a whole. This position just gives me a great opportunity to do that.” The Davis family will be relocating to Indiana from Texas this summer, but Coach Davis has already begun living in Columbus to take part in summer workouts with the team. Davis was impressed with what he saw when he had a chance to meet briefly with the players. “When I first met the team, there was great excitement in the air. We really seem to have kids that work hard and want to have a great season,” he explained. “Coach Davis will be a great asset to our athletic program,” according to athletic director Brian Lewis. “Buster has had the opportunity to coach at the high school and collegiate levels, giving him a lot of insight into the game of football. I feel he will continue to build on the strong tradition of grit here at North.” Columbus North welcomes coach Buster Davis to the Bull Dog family and looks forward to having him and his family as part of our community.
