Jayden Adorno tossed a one-hit gem against eighth-ranked Franklin Community on Friday night, helping the Dogs win 9-1 and earn a berth in the sectional championship game Monday night against East Central.

May 30, 2026 - Columbus North knocked off eighth-ranked Franklin Community (18-5) by a score of 9-1 to earn a berth in Monday night’s sectional championship game against East Central. The Trojans beat Columbus East 5-1 in the night’s other semifinal game. Jayden Adorno started on the mound and tossed a one-hitter in 6-⅓ innings of work, allowing just one run and five walks while striking out seven. Dillon Long came on in the seventh and walked two while striking out one to finish the game. The bottom of the batting lineup played a big role in the Bull Dogs’ victory, accounting for five hits, five runs, and four RBI. Macario Mendez, batting second, had a three-run triple that broke the game open in the bottom of the fifth. The Dogs scored five runs in that inning, all with two outs. Dillon Long and Daiju Iwaya each had two hits for North (18-11). Columbus North has now won nine of their last eleven games and will face the 21-6 East Central Trojans on Monday night at 6:00 pm.
