Bailee Scruggs pitched a complete game two-hit shutout against Terre Haute South on Saturday, may 16.

May 18, 2026 - Columbus North softball has been on the short end of a number of walk off decisions this season. The tables turned on Saturday when the Dogs beat Terre Haute South 1-0 with a run in the bottom of the seventh inning. The game was a true pitcher’s duel with the two teams combining for just seven hits (five by North and two by the Braves), but a single by Vada Riegle to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning led to the game’s only run. Morgan Jarvis tried to bunt Riegle to second, but a throwing error by the Braves on the play allowed Riegle to scamper all the way home and secure the Bull Dog victory. Lyla Deweese had two hits for the Dogs along with a walk. Ali Wooten and Jarvis had the remaining hits in the victory that allowed North to finish 3-2 in Conference Indiana (9-14 overall). Bailee Scruggs tossed a complete game gem for North, allowing just two hits and no walks, while striking out three in the Bull Dog shutout. North will be on the road for a varsity/JV double header this afternoon at Seymour.
