Lyla Deweese had the Bull Dogs' only hit in a 10-0 loss at Terre Haute North Friday night, May 15.

May 16, 2026 - Columbus North softball knew that they’d have their hands full when they went on the road to Terre Haute North Friday night to face the 21-1 Patriots. While the Dogs were able to go toe-to-toe with the highly ranked Patriot squad early in the game, Terre Haute North busted the game open with a six-run third inning en route to a 10-0 victory. Bailee Scruggs got the start once again in the pitcher’s circle for the Bull Dogs and allowed eight runs on nine hits with two walks in 2-⅔ innings. Payton Morris tossed the final 1-⅓ innings, allowing two runs on four hits with two walks. The Bull Dogs were only able to muster one hit, a single by Lyla Deweese, for the ball game as the Patriot pitcher and the athletic defense behind her kept the Dogs off balance all night at the plate. The only other base runners the Bull Dogs had came from a walk by Morris and Ali Wooten’s hit-by-pitch. A double header versus Terre Haute South and North Harrison Saturday morning has been reduced to a single game against the Braves at noon due to storms Saturday morning.
