Tennis wins third consecutive match

April 16, 2026 - Columbus North girls tennis won its third consecutive match with a 3-2 victory over Mt. Vernon on Wednesday, April 15. Lucy Bergman got the Dogs started with a 6-0, 6-1 victory in her number two singles match, but Mt. Vernon tied the match score with a 3-6, 0-6 victory over Molly Richards at three singles. They then took a 2-1 lead when North’s one singles player, Valeria Cortes dropped a 2-6, 4-6 decision. The Dogs rallied to tie the match 2-2 when Nino Akhalaya and Isa Pan won their one doubles match 6-3, 4-6, 6-1. The match of the night ended up deciding the team title as Dhish Vudathaneni and Priyanka Nair dropped their first number two doubles set 5-7, but came back to win the final two sets 7-6(5), 11-9 to seal the victory for the Bull Dogs. North will host Jeffersonville at 10:00 am Saturday morning, April 18 at the Columbus North tennis courts.
