Vada Riegle had two hits, including a home run in a 13-5 loss to Roncalli on Tuesday, April 7.

April 8, 2026 - Columbus North softball dropped a 13-5 loss to Roncalli on Tuesday evening at the Southside diamonds. The Royals jumped out to a 7-0 lead midway through the third inning, but North battled back to just a 7-5 deficit after four innings. Roncalli answered with six more runs in the final three innings to seal the victory. Four of Roncalli’s runs were unearned as the Dogs struggled with four defensive errors in the game. Bailee Scruggs and Vada Riegle each had two hits for the Dogs, including a home run by Riegle. Payton Morris was the starting pitcher for the Dogs, allowing five runs (two earned) on four hits in two innings. Scruggs tossed the final five innings, allowing eight runs (seven earned) on eight hits. She walked two and struck out four batters. Roncalli won the JV game 13-0. North will host Shelbyville in a varsity-only game on Thursday, beginning at 5:30 pm.
