March 31, 2026 - Columbus North baseball had hot bats early in their season opener against Hamilton Southeastern, building a 7-2 lead after two innings. However, the Royals rallied to score seven runs in the next three innings, and a seventh inning homerun by Jack Whaley wasn’t enough as the Bull Dogs fell 9-8. Franko Ortega got the opening day start on the mound for the Bull Dogs, throwing three innings and giving up two runs on five hits. He walked three and struck out five in his outing. Dillon Long tossed the next inning, allowing four runs on four hits before passing the pitching duties to Jayden Adorno. Adorno pitched two innings, allowing two runs on one hit while striking out two and walking three. Jesse Clark threw a scoreless seventh inning, allowing no runs on no hits while striking out one. Brock Kintner, Whaley, and Clark each had two hits for the Bull Dogs, and Kintner and Whaley each scored a pair of runs in the loss. The JV game was called after three innings due to darkness with the Dogs trailing the Royals. The varsity will travel to Jennings County this evening, with first pitch scheduled for 5:30 pm. This game was originally scheduled to be played on Thursday, April 2, but was moved up due to the possibility of rain on Thursday.
