Dogs earn 20th consecutive trip to State gymnastics meet, setting new IHSAA record

March 7, 2026 - Sophomore Hayden Harper and senior Hannah Perry took first and second in the all-around at the Franklin Central Regional gymnastics meet Friday evening, and the Bull Dogs claimed second place as a team to New Palestine, earning their 20th consecutive (and 30th overall) berth in the IHSAA State gymnastics meet on March 14. North has now set a new all-time IHSAA mark for consecutive trips to the State meet, bettering Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger’s mark of 19 consecutive berths from 2000-2018. Their 30th overall appearance next weekend is second most in IHSAA history. Harper won the uneven bars (9.0) and the balance beam (9.325), finished fourth on the vault (9.05) and T5 on the floor exercise (9.425) en route to an overall score of 36.800. Perry finished in a tie for second on the floor exercise (9.6), third on the vault (9.125), fifth on the uneven bars (8.85), and tied for sixth on the balance beam (8.825), finishing the all-around just four-tenths of a point behind Harper, with a 36.400. Ellie McIntier was eleventh in the all-around for the Dogs and tied for seventh on the floor exercise. Peyton Hewitt was eighth on the floor exercise. Connersville 98.400 The State meet will take place on Saturday, March 14 at Ball State University.
