North grabs pair of boys basketball victories

February 1, 2026 - Columbus North secured a pair of key victories, beating Conference Indiana foe Southport Friday night and a 14-win Whiteland team on Saturday night. At Southport, the Dogs fell behind 17-6 after one quarter, but rallied to earn a 63-60 victory. Austin Perry scored 30 points, including 15 in the fourth quarter, and Jack Whaley added 22 points in the victory. North won both early games as well as the freshmen won 56-24 and the JV Bull Dogs earned a 62-31 victory. Caleb Ferguson scored 24 points, Perry added 14, and Ben Kriesant added eleven as the Bull Dogs beat Whiteland 63-60 at home Saturday night to improve to 9-6 for the season. Whiteland took both sub-varsity games with a 46-25 victory in the freshman game and a 51-50 decision in the JV game. The 9th grade team is now 9-4 and the JV is 7-5. The freshmen will host Bloomington South on Monday at 6:00 pm and will travel to New Palestine on Thursday. All three teams will host East Central Saturday afternoon.
