Four Columbus North student athletes to participate in November 12 collegiate signing ceremony

November 12, 2025 - Four Columbus North student athletes will participate in a collegiate signing ceremony hosted by the Columbus North Athletics Department on Wednesday, November 12 in the CNHS Cafeteria beginning at 5:30 pm. Each athlete will be presented by Athletic Director Brian Lewis and a representative from their high school coaching staff. Family, friends, and teammates of each athlete will be in attendance. Student athletes participating in this ceremony represent Columbus North girls basketball, boys cross country, boys basketball, and girls volleyball programs. These student athletes’ future colleges or universities represent the NAIA and NCAA Division 1 and 2 levels. The Bull Dog student athletes planning to participate in the November 12 signing ceremony include the following: Denton Sluder is signing to run cross country and track and field at Division 1 Indiana State University in Terre Haute, Indiana. Denton earned All-Area and All-Conference honors in both track and field and cross country as well as All-State honors at this season’s State meet, placing 13th individually. He was a captain of this season’s State championship team and owns the second fastest time in program history. He has also been named the Bull Dog Award in both cross country and track and field. Denton plans to study business while at Indiana State. Caleb Ferguson is signing to play basketball at NAIA Taylor University in Upland, Indiana. Caleb has been named All-Area and All-Conference twice already with a senior season yet to come. He was voted team MVP and served as captain twice as well. He was a two-time participant in the Top 100 Camp as well as a participant in the IBCA Indiana All-Star Futures game. He was also an Athlete of the Week for The Republic. Caleb chose Taylor after considering offers from Trinity Christian College, Rose-Hulman, and Wheaton College. He plans to study Mechanical Engineering while at Taylor. Karen Dutro is signing to play volleyball at Division 1 Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was a three-time captain, a four-time Conference Indiana All-Conference recipient, was named team MVP, and won the Bull Dog Award. She was a three-time member of The Republic’s All-Area Team, and set program records for career kills and career blocks. She was second in Class 4A in total blocks this season, and was top-10 in Class 4A in hitting percentage. She was an Academic All-State (Gold Award) winner as well and plans to study Neuroscience and Creative Media and Entertainment while at Butler with plans to be a neurologist. Miley McClellan is signing to play basketball at Division 2 Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania. Miley was named to the Conference Indiana All-Conference First Team following her sophomore year in both basketball and softball. She was named to the IBCA Top 100 list, and will serve as team captain her senior year of basketball. She was named to The Republic All-Area team following her sophomore year and was ICGSA All-State (Third Team). She lost her junior basketball season to injury but looks to bounce back with a strong senior season. Miley also had offers from IU East, IU Columbus, and Holy Cross, but chose Gannon where she will study Early Childhood Education. There will be two additional collegiate signing ceremonies for the Class of 2026 on February 4 and April 15, 2026.
