CoEd All Levels Swimming and Diving
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Grant Fehribach received a late opportunity to take part in the Bloomington North diving regional on Tuesday (Feb. 21), and the Columbus North junior placed 14th in the 20-athlete competition.
Fehribach totaled 231.25 points and did not qualify for the state meet. He had placed fifth in the Columbus North Sectional and typically the top four advance from the sectional. Fehribach was added to the regional field when senior teammate Kaemon Jiles – the sectional winner – was unable to participate in the regional.
Seymour sophomore Devin Ramsey won the regional with 432.60 points, nine points better than Mooresville senior Ashton Johnson. Others qualifying for the state meet were Mooresville junior Hunter Ongay (396.95), Franklin sophomore Gage Creech (396.95), Edgewood sophomore Jacob Schunk (371.55), Heritage Hills junior Austin Schnuck (367.50), East Central senior Ethan Ayers-Edds (361.05) and Whiteland sophomore Collin Barton (349.80).
Columbus North will send two individual swimmers and three relays to the preliminary round of the IHSAA boys swimming State Finals on Friday (Feb. 24).
Sophomore Sam Russell is seeded 19th in the 200 individual medley (1:55.57) and senior Angel Torres Martinez is seeded 33rd in the 50 free (22.10).
The 400 free relay of freshman Evan Patterson, sophomore Jared Carroll, Torres Martinez and Russell is seeded 14th in 3:13.37. The 200 free relay of Carroll, freshman Evan Patterson, junior Adam Zhuang and Torres Martinez is seeded 18th in 1:28.20. The 200 medley relay of Carroll, Zhuang, Russell and junior Thomas Goble is seeded 23rd in 1:38.11.
Those who place in the top eight in the prelims qualify for the championship final on Saturday (Feb. 25). Those who finished ninth through 16th in the prelims advance to the consolation final on Saturday.
