Olympians oust Bull Dogs 3-0 in boys soccer sectional final

                SEYMOUR, Ind. – Senior Dustin Rodgers, senior Justin Copas and sophomore Jorge Nieto each scored Saturday (Oct. 7) to lift the Columbus East boys soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Columbus North for the championship of the Class 3A sectional at Seymour.

                The Bull Dogs outshot the Olympians 10-9, but they were unable to find the net in finishing their season at 13-6-1. East sophomore Zach Roberts posted his 10th shutout of the season for the Olympians (13-2-4).

                CN junior Noah Kestler played all 80 minutes in goal and made one save for the Bull Dogs.

                Columbus East captured its fourth boys soccer sectional title and advances to face Bloomington South at noon next Saturday (Oct. 14) in the Seymour Regional. Castle and Perry Meridian meet in the opening semifinal game at 10 a.m. The regional final is at 7 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 14).

                Columbus North was seeking the program’s 15th sectional trophy since the IHSAA began overseeing boys soccer in 1994.
