Boys Varsity Soccer
SEYMOUR, Ind. – Senior Finn Anderson scored two goals Tuesday evening (Oct. 3), lifting the Columbus North boys soccer team to a 4-0 victory over New Albany in the first round of the Class 3A sectional at Seymour.
Senior Jack Robertson and junior Alex McGill each added one goal and one assist for the Bull Dogs (12-5-1), who moved into a semifinal game at 7 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 4) against host Seymour (13-3-1). The Owls defeated Jeffersonville 1-0 in their first-round game.
Jennings County (2-15-0) and Columbus East (11-2-4) meet in the first semifinal at 5 p.m. Wednesday. The semifinal winners will play for the sectional title at 2 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 7).
Robertson opened the scoring in the 13th minute against New Albany by converting a feed from McGill. Anderson tallied in the 24th minute by putting away a rebound of a shot by junior Ernesto Perez.
McGill made it 3-0 in the 53rd minute with sophomore Andrew Goble collecting the assist. Anderson scored CN’s final goal in the 55th minute, converting a header after Robertson had launched a corner kick.
Junior Noah Kestler played the full game in goal, making one save will recording the shutout.
