CARMEL, Ind. – Senior Jack Muller scored three goals Friday night (Sept. 29) to lift the Carmel boys soccer team to a 4-1 victory over Columbus North.
Junior Alex Cline also scored for the Greyhounds, who improved to 9-4-3.
Senior Finn Anderson notched the lone goal for the Bull Dogs, who saw a six-game winning streak snapped and fell to 11-5-1. Junior Noah Kestler made four saves while playing all 80 minutes in goal.
Cline gave Carmel an early lead with an unassisted goal in the third minute. Muller made it 2-0 in the 22nd minute off a feed from senior Tommy Abbenhaus.
Muller scored again in the final minute of the first half, then pushed the count to 4-0 on a rebound shot in the 53rd minute.
Anderson found the net for Columbus North in the 54th minute off a feed from senior Jack Robertson.
At the JV level, Carmel took a 4-0 victory. The Bull Dogs’ JV team finished its season with a 5-7-2 record.
Columbus North returns to action at 5 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 3) when it faces New Albany in the first round of the Seymour Sectional. Seymour and Jeffersonville play in another first-round game that night. Those two winners will play in a semifinal game at 7 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 4).
