Boys Varsity Soccer
COLUMBUS, Ind. – Senior Jack Robertson and junior Alex McGill each scored Tuesday evening to lead the Columbus North boys soccer team to a 2-0 victory over Seymour at Richard Wigh Soccer Complex.
Andrew Goble added an assist for the Bull Dogs, who celebrated Senior Night by improving to 11-4-1. Junior Noah Kestler made six saves while recording the shutout in goal.
Robertson and six classmates – Axel Arroyo, Todd Liggett, Andrew Potter, Nick Stevens and Finn and Jannis Anderson – were recognized for their contributions to the CN program.
Robertson gave the Bull Dogs a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal in the eighth minute. McGill doubled the advantage in the 43rd minute by converting a feed from Goble.
In the JV game, junior Israel Jaimes’ second-half goal gave the Bull Dogs a 1-1 tie. Sophomore Cameron Connell scored for the Owls. Freshman Colvin Iorio made seven saves in the nets for CN (5-6-2).
Columbus North returns to action on Friday (Sept. 29) at Carmel. The JV game begins at 6 p.m., and the varsity game follows about 8 p.m. The Bull Dogs begin play in the Seymour Sectional at 5 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 3) against New Albany.
