Boys Varsity Soccer
WESTFIELD, Ind. – Junior Alex McGill scored two goals and added an assist Thursday evening (Sept. 21), lifting the Columbus North boys soccer team to a 4-1 victory at host Westfield.
Senior Finn Anderson added a goal and an assist for the Bull Dogs, who won their fifth game in a row and improved to 10-4-1. The Shamrocks fell to 5-6-3.
Senior Jack Robertson also scored a goal and sophomore Graham Keele contributed an assist for CN.
Junior Noah Kestler allowed one goal and made five saves in 76 minutes in goal. Freshman Colvin Iorio played the other four minutes in the net.
McGill opened the scoring with a penalty kick in the sixth minute after Westfield was called for a hand ball in the penalty box. The Shamrocks tied the game in the 12th minute when senior Erick Luna converted a free kick by senior Josh VanDyke.
Anderson gave the Bull Dogs the lead for good when he headed home a Keele corner kick in the 39th minute.
Robertson extended the CN edge by converting a McGill feed in the 46th minute, and McGill closed the scoring in the 61st minute by finishing an opportunity created by Anderson.
At the JV level, Westfield claimed a 3-0 victory. Freshman Colvin Iorio played the full game in goal for CN (5-6-1).
The Bull Dogs return to action on Tuesday (Sept. 26) when they host Seymour for their Senior Night. The JV game begins at 6 p.m., and the varsity follows about 7:30 p.m.
