Boys Varsity Soccer
ST. LEON, Ind. – Senior Finn Anderson scored twice and classmate Jack Robertson added two assists Monday (Sept. 11), lifting the Columbus North boys soccer team to a 4-1 victory at East Central.
Anderson’s second goal late in the first half off a Robertson assist put the Bull Dogs ahead for good as they improved to 6-4-1 for the season.
Anderson opened the scoring in the game’s 20th minute off a feed from senior Andrew Potter. Senior Nate Weis tied the game in the 37th minute for the host Trojans, but Anderson made it 2-1 at intermission when he converted an opportunity created by Robertson.
Junior Alex McGill extended the CN lead in the 47th minute off Robertson’s second assist. Sophomore Graham Keele provided yet another goal in the 57th minute when he found the net off a feed from senior Todd Liggett.
Junior Noah Kestler played all 80 minutes in goal for the Bull Dogs, recording three saves.
Junior Fabio Navarro scored twice as Columbus North prevailed in the JV game 2-0. Junior Fraser Swan assisted on a first-half goal, while Navarro converted a penalty kick for the second goal. Freshman Colvin Iorio notched the shutout in the nets for the Bull Dogs (3-4-1).
Columbus North returns to action on Thursday (Sept. 14) when it hosts Perry Meridian in a Conference Indiana game at Richard Wigh Soccer Complex. The JV game begins at 6 p.m., and the varsity follows about 7:30 p.m.
