Boys Varsity Soccer
COLUMBUS, Ind. – Senior Finn Anderson tallied a goal and an assist Saturday (Sept. 2) to spark the Columbus North boys soccer team to a 3-0 triumph over Terre Haute South at Richard Wigh Soccer Complex.
Junior Alex McGill and senior Jack Robertson also scored for the Bull Dogs, who improved to 4-2 overall and 2-1 in Conference Indiana games. McGill and junior Zach Friend each chipped in an assist, while junior goalkeeper Noah Kestler made six saves while recording a shutout.
McGill snapped a scoreless tie with a goal off a feed from Anderson in the 60th minute. CN put the game away with two goals in the 70th minute – Anderson finding the net with Friend getting the assist and Robertson closing the scoring with McGill earning the assist.
At the JV level, the teams played to a 1-1 tie. Freshman Bryce Lynn scored an unassisted goal for the Bull Dogs (2-3-1) in the first half, but Braves freshman Jake Stout managed an equalizer in the second half. Freshman Colvin Iorio made two saves in goal for CN.
Columbus North returns to action Tuesday (Sept. 5) when it visits Bloomington South for another Conference Indiana contest. The JV game starts at 6 p.m., and the varsity follows about 7:30 p.m.
