Hollenkamp nets hat trick as Columbus North girls soccer beats Perry Meridian 7-0

COLUMBUS, Ind. – Sophomore Caroline Hollenkamp scored three goals Saturday (Sept. 23) to key the Columbus North girls soccer team to a 7-0 victory over Perry Meridian at Richard Wigh Soccer Complex.

Juniors Tanner Johnson and Christy DeDomenic each added two goals for the Bull Dogs, who improved to 8-2-2 overall and closed Conference Indiana play at 4-2-1 in the makeup of a game rained on from Sept. 13. Junior Elise Whitley contributed two assists, and DeDomenic had one.

Sophomore Kaylyn Bates and Hollenkamp shared the shutout in goal for CN, which played without regular goalkeeper Liz Tynan. Bates played 62 minutes with one save, and Hollenkamp played 18 minutes with one save. Tynan, a senior, was absent because of a college visit that was planned when this was an open date.

Hollenkamp and Johnson set the tone for the game with respective unassisted goals in the third and sixth minutes. DeDomenic added a goal in the 29th minute, and Hollenkamp and Johnson made it 5-0 at intermission.

Hollenkamp completed her hat trick in the 50th minute, and DeDomenic scored for the second time in the 75th minute.

Columbus North put 16 shots on goal, and Falcons goalkeeper Riley Bradbury made nine saves.

In the JV game, sophomores Dani Aguilar, Hannah Grimes and Abigail Hovis each scored two goals as the Bull Dogs claimed an 8-0 triumph. Freshman Samantha Crossman and Denize Perez also tallied for CN (3-7-1).

Bates and sophomore Riley Stevens each played one half in goal to share the shutout.

Columbus North returns to action on Tuesday (Sept. 26) when it visits Batesville. The JV game begins at 6 p.m, and the varsity follows about 7:30 p.m. The Bull Dogs close their regular season next Saturday (Sept. 30) when they travel to Franklin.
