Bloomington South edges Columbus North 1-0 in girls soccer

                COLUMBUS, Ind. – Sophomore Gaelle Wells scored in the 16th minute on Monday evening (Sept. 18) to lift the Bloomington South girls soccer team to a 1-0 decision over Columbus North at Richard Wigh Soccer Complex.

                Senior Emily Byrd assisted on the goal for the Panthers, who improved to 12-2-1 overall and 5-0-1 in Conference Indiana contests. Freshman Kristen Morgan recorded the shutout in goal.

                The result spoiled Senior Night for the Bull Dogs, who dropped to 7-2-1 and 3-2-1. Six seniors -- Anna Andrews, Morgan Imlay, Jocelyn Maynard, Corrine Orben, Kristen Orben and Liz Tynan -- were recognized before the game.

                Tynan made seven sevens in goal for Columbus North.

                In the JV game, Bloomington South took a 1-0 victory. Junior Sejal Rajamani scored the game’s only goal for the Panthers. CN sophomore Kaylyn Bates played all 70 minutes in goal and recorded nine saves for the Bull Dogs (2-6-1).

                Columbus North returns to action on Wednesday (Sept. 20) when it hosts East Central. The JV game is set for 6 p.m., and the varsity follows about 7:30 p.m. The Bull Dogs host Perry Meridian in a makeup game on Saturday (Sept. 23), JV at 10 a.m. and varsity about 11:30 a.m.
