INDIANAPOLIS – Senior Liz Tynan made 10 saves en route to a shutout Wednesday (Aug. 30), helping the Columbus North girls soccer team post a 1-0 victory at Franklin Central in a Conference Indiana encounter.
Senior Corrine Orben scored the game’s only goal, an unassisted tally in the 65th minute. Orben beat Flashes goalkeeper Maddie Hasseld on one of CN’s four shots on goal.
On the other end, FC put 10 shots on goal – five in each half – and Tynan stopped them all for the Bull Dogs’ fourth shutout of the season.
Columbus North improved to 5-0-1 overall and 1-0-1 in CI games.
Franklin Central claimed a 3-0 triumph in the JV game. Jamie Rector, Paige Buffington and Leah Kellum each tallied an unassisted goal for the Flashes. Sophomore Kaylyn Bates made four save in goal for the Bull Dogs (1-4).
Columbus North returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 2) when it hosts Terre Haute South in a girl-boy quadruple-header at Richard Wigh Soccer Complex – JV girls at 11 a.m., varsity girls at 12:30 p.m., JV boys at 2 p.m. and varsity boys at 3:30 p.m.
