Whitley sparks Columbus North to 3-0 victory over Heritage Christian in girls soccer

                INDIANAPOLIS – Freshman Lauryn Whitley scored a goal and added an assist Thursday (Aug. 17), helping the Columbus North girls soccer team to a 3-0 victory at Heritage Christian.

                Sophomore Caroline Hollenkamp and junior Tanner Johnson also tallied goals for the Bull Dogs, who improved to 2-0 for the season. Junior Christy DeDomenic provided an assist.

                Senior Liz Tynan, playing 72 minutes, and sophomore Kaylyn Bates, playing eight minutes, shared the shutout as goalkeepers for CN. Tynan made one save.

                Hollenkamp gave Columbus North a 1-0 edge with a goal with an assist from DeDomenic in the 39th minute. Whitley made it 2-0 by scoring in the 50th minute. Johnson ended all doubt, finding the net in the 55th minute off a feed from Whitley.

                There was no JV game.

                Columbus North returns to action on Saturday (Aug. 19) when it visits Lawrenceburg. The JV game will begin at 11 a.m. The varsity will follow at about 12:30 p.m.
