Orben sisters help Columbus North girls soccer top Center Grove 2-1 in opener

                COLUMBUS, Ind. – Senior sisters Kristen and Corrine Orben each scored first-half goals Monday evening (Aug. 14), sparking the Columbus North girls soccer team to a 2-1 season-opening victory over Center Grove at Richard Wigh Soccer Complex.

                Kristen Orben scored in the ninth minute off a feed from junior Elise Whitley. Corrine Orben found the net in the 31st minute with junior Tanner Johnson assisting on the goal.

                Senior Liz Tynan made four saves in goal for the Bull Dogs.

                Piper Belden tallied the lone goal for the Trojans, converting an opportunity created by Paige Waskom.

                At the JV level, sophomore Kiyah Yeast scored twice as Center Grove claimed a 4-0 decision. Isabella Baxter and MaKayla Spangler also scored for the visitors.

                Columbus North returns to action at 6 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 17) when it visits Heritage Christian for a varsity-only contest. The Bull Dogs visit Lawrenceburg on Saturday (Aug. 19), the JV beginning at 11 a.m. and the varsity following at about 12:30 p.m.
