Columbus North places fourth in girls golf State Finals; Bull Dogs' Kim finishes fifth individually

                CARMEL, Ind. – Senior Danbi Kim carded a second-round 74 on Saturday (Sept. 30) to help the Columbus North girls golf team capture fourth place in the IHSAA State Finals at Prairie View Golf Club.

                Junior Alexandria Munnicha shot an 80 for the second day in a row as the Bull Dogs totaled a 324, two strokes better than their opening-day 326 for a two-day total of 650. Freshman Nathaly Munnicha tallied an 81, while senior Molly Donnell posted an 89 and senior Julia Luken had a 91.

                Over both days, Columbus North placed 30 strokes behind Zionsville, which captured the championship of the 15-school competition with a 620. Westfield was second with a 638 and three-time defending champion Evansville North placed third with a 639. The Bull Dogs were fourth followed by Homestead at 657, Fishers at 658, Carmel at 662, Hamilton Southeastern at 667 and Culver Academy at 687.

                Kim posted a two-day total of 76-74–150 to place fifth individually, while Alex Munnicha tied for 20th with her 80-80–160. Nathaly Munnicha shared 46th place with an 86-81–167, and Luken tied for 65th place with an 89-91–180. Donnell played just the second day, while CN sophomore Annie Anderson carded an 84 while playing only the first day.

                Plainfield senior Kayla Benge, playing as an individual, claimed medalist honors with a 1-over-par 71-74–145.  Her score was one stroke better than Lake Central junior Alexis Miestowski, who posted an 72-74–146. Evansville North senior Hadley Walts placed third with a 71-77–148, followed by Zionsville sophomore Annabelle Pancake with a 74-75–149 and Kim.

                Fishers senior Morgan Lewis (75-78–153), Westfield sophomore Jocelyn Bruch (75-79–154), Chesterton senior Elyse Stasil (70-84–154), Zionsville sophomore Abby Thielbar (70-84–154) and Culver Academy freshman Reese Wilson (79-76–155) rounded out the top 10 individuals.

                Junior Avery VonDielingen (77-81–158), senior Claire Edwards (81-81–162) and senior Maggie Nobbe (78-85–163) joined Pancake and Thielbar in Zionsville’s title-winning quintet.

                The Westfield cast included Bruch, senior Cailyn Henderson (78-78 – 156), senior Adrienne Montalone (80-82–162), senior Margaret Wentz (83-83–166) and senior Emma Clary (91-89–180).

                Walts paced Evansville North, and she was supported by junior Katelyn Skinner (81-75–156), sophomore Abigail Whittington (77-82–159), freshman Lauren Le (89-87–176) and senior Hannah Davis (91-94–185).

                Columbus North was making its 25th appearance in the girls golf State Finals, and the Bull Dogs posted their 19th top-10 finish. CN was the runner-up in 1973 and placed third in 1978, 1985, 2007, 2008 and 2016. The was the program’s second fourth-place finish, the Bull Dogs also claiming that spot in 1975.

                Kim was a top-five individual finisher for the second consecutive season. In 2016, the University of Findlay recruit shot a 75-75–150 to tie for fifth place at state. CN then-senior Holly Anderson was the 2016 individual champion with a 75-71–146.
