Columbus North girls golf places second in season-opening Bloomington South Invitational; Kim leads Bull Dogs with a 72

                BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Senior Danbi Kim shot a 1-under-par 72 on Monday (July 31) to lead the Columbus North girls golf team to a runner-up finish in the season-opening Bloomington South Invitational.

                Freshman Nathaly Munnicha added a 77 and senior Julia Luken carded an 80 for the Bull Dogs, who combined for a 312 total. Junior Alexandria Munnicha rounded out CN’s top four with an 83, while sophomore Annie Anderson shot an 88 and senior Molly Donnell had a 91.

                Westfield, led by a blistering 62 by sophomore Jocelyn Bruch, took the championship with a 296. Columbus North was 16 strokes behind for second place in the 18-school field. Three-time defending state champion Evansville North was third at 313 followed by Carmel at 314, Martinsville at 355 and Jasper at 362. Bedford North Lawrence placed seventh at 373 with Center Grove at 376, Vincennes Rivet at 377 and Mooresville at 384 to round out the top 10.

                Kim and Evansville North senior Hadley Walts shared second place individually, a whopping 10 strokes behind Bruch’s phenomenal score. Carmel freshman Katie Kuc was fourth with a 76, with CN’s Nathaly Munnicha and Westfield senior Cailyn Henderson sharing fifth place with 77s.

                Bruch and Henderson were supported by Shamrocks seniors Adrienne Montalone and Margaret Wentz to complete their top four. Montalone shot a 78 and Wentz carded a 79.

                Columbus North returns to action at 1 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 5) when it competes in the Fall Preview at Prairie View Golf Club in Carmel. A second group of Bull Dogs will take part in the Greensburg Invitational at 9 a.m. Saturday (Aug. 5) at Greensburg Country Club.
