FAIRLAND, Ind. – Junior Morgan Smith and seniors Brigham Kleinhenz and Nick Tungett each went 5-0 Saturday (Nov. 25), claiming weight class titles and helping the Columbus North wrestling team to a second-place finish in the season-opening Triton Central Invitational.
Smith went unbeaten at 106 pounds, while Kleinhenz was perfect at 182 pounds and Tungett was spotless at 220 pounds. Junior Dylan England also claimed a weight class crown by going 4-1 at 160 pounds.
Noblesville won the team competition by going 5-0 in the six-team round-robin event. Columbus North was second at 4-1, while other teams that competed were Lapel, host Triton Central, Shelbyville and Western Boone.
The Bull Dogs opened their day with a 48-24 victory over Shelbyville. CN and Lapel each tallied 39 points in the next match, but the Bull Dogs were declared the winner on the second criteria of actual matches won. CN blitzed Western Boone 56-6 before dropping a 56-24 decision to Noblesville. The Bull Dogs clinched second place in the event by topping host Triton Central 38-24 in their final match.

>> Sophomore Keandre Watson, 3-2 at 132 pounds.
>> Junior Dallin Anderson, 3-2 at 145 pounds.
>> Freshman Royce Lofton, 3-2 at 152 pounds.
>> Sophomore Vincent Fischer, 1-4 at 170 pounds.
>> Junior Bradley Gutierrez, 3-2 at 285 pounds.
The Bull Dogs did not field athletes in the 126-, 138- or 195-pound divisions.
Columbus North returns to action at 9 a.m. next Saturday (Dec. 2) when it competes in the Bloomington Invitational at Bloomington South.
