Columbus East rallies for 3-2 decision over Columbus North in volleyball

                COLUMBUS, Ind. – Junior Agustina Fainguersch posted 22 kills and 15 digs on Thursday (Sept. 28), but it wasn’t enough as the Columbus North volleyball team dropped a 3-2 decision at Columbus East.

                Sophomore Emma Tynan contributed eight kills, two service aces, nine digs and two blocks for CN as the Olympians rallied to take a 22-25, 18-25, 25-17, 25-13, 15-13 decision in the Orange Pit.

                Sophomore Gabby Genth added eight kills and three blocks, while senior Katie McAninch tallied six kills and three aces and junior Lauryn James notched four kills.

                Junior Lily Meyercord provided three aces, 35 assists and 17 digs. Junior Maddy Sebahar also had 17 digs, and sophomore Carley Finke netted eight digs.

                Columbus East improved to 8-17 with the victory. Columbus North dropped to 13-12.

                The Olympians also took both sub-varsity matches.

                East prevailed 25-23, 22-25, 15-9 in the JV match as the Bull Dogs fell to 12-7. The hosts took a 25-21, 25-24 victory in the freshman match as CN dropped to 3-7.

                Columbus North returns to action on Tuesday (Oct. 3) when it hosts Bloomington South in a Conference Indiana match. JV and freshman matches begin at 6 p.m. The varsity follows the JV at about 7 p.m.
