Roncalli posts 3-0 victory over Columbus North in volleyball

INDIANAPOLIS – Junior Agustina Fainguersch tallied five kills and eight digs Thursday evening (Aug. 24), but it was not enough as the Columbus North volleyball team dropped a 3-0 decision at Roncalli.

Sophomore Emma Tynan added four kills, while junior Lily Meyercord provided 10 assists and seven digs for the Bull Dogs (3-1). Junior Maddy Sebahar tallied a team-best 23 digs.

“We did not come ready to play,” Columbus North coach Caitlin Greiner said. “Roncalli jumped on us early and we were unable to close the gap. We had several unforced errors and out-of-system plays that Roncalli was able to capitalize on.  I hope we can take our mistakes from this match, learn from them and continue to improve.”

The host Rebels also swept both sub-varsity matches.

Roncalli posted a 25-7, 25-16 victory over the Bull Dogs (3-1) at the JV level. The Rebels topped CN (1-4) 25-8, 25-18 in the freshman match.

Columbus North returns to action on Tuesday (Aug. 29) when it hosts Bloomington North in a Conference Indiana encounter. JV and freshman matches begin at 6 p.m., and the varsity follows the JV about 7 p.m.
