Seniors Isaac Jackson and Ben Mathew have been chosen second-team all-state in doubles by the Indiana High School Tennis Coaches Association.
Jackson and Mathew went 20-8 for the season at No. 1 doubles for the Bull Dogs, advancing to the regional final in the individual doubles tournament.
Junior Kevin Lin and sophomore Joey Zhao were selected honorable mention all-state in singles. Lin posted a 14-11 record at No. 1 singles as the Bull Dogs went 17-5 as a team. Zhao was 16-9 while playing No. 2 singles.
Three Columbus North players – Mathew, senior Akshaya Sabapathy and senior Chris Ruble – were recognized as honorable mention academic all-state selections. Sabapathy finished 19-6 at No. 3 singles, while Ruble was 20-5 while teamed with sophomore Adam Saad at No. 2 doubles.
In addition, the Columbus North team was honored as a Academic All-State team.
For Academic All-State, a player must have a 3.6 GPA or better on a 4.0 scale. The player must also score 1100 or better out of 1600 on the SAT or 24 or better on the ACT. For the team honor, all players who played in the postseason must have a combined cumulative GPA of 3.6 or better on a 4.0 scale with grades converted to a non-weighted scale.
Earlier, Jackson and Mathew were chosen first-team all-District 8 in doubles while Lin and Zhao were tabbed first-team all-district in singles.
