FLOYDS KNOBS, Ind. – Junior Kevin Lin prevailed at No. 1 singles on Saturday (Sept. 16), but that was the only point for Columbus North in a 4-1 setback at Floyd Central.
Lin defeated Highlanders senior 6-2, 6-4, but the Bull Dogs – now 11-1 in dual matches – dropped the other four points in straight sets.
Floyd freshman Jordan Wilson topped CN sophomore Joey Zhao 6-2, 6-0 at No. 2 singles, and Highlanders sophomore Connor Mason beat Bull Dogs senior Akshaya Sabapathy 6-2, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
At No. 1 doubles, Floyd senior Noah Neihower and sophomore Alex Poe posted a 6-4, 6-4 decision over Columbus North seniors Isaac Jackson and Ben Mathew. At No. 2 doubles, Highlanders freshman Gabe Cora and sophomore Eric Whitehouse defeated CN senior Chris Ruble and sophomore Adam Saad 6-4, 6-4.
The Highlanders claimed a 6-3 victory in JV matches. For Columbus North, sophomore Will King won in singles while the doubles tandems of sophomore Eamon Ma and senior Gabe Kirsch plus junior Dallin Anderson and freshman Joseph Kloepfer also prevailed.
Columbus North returns to action at 5 p.m. Tuesday (Sept. 19) when it visits Greenwood. The Bull Dogs host Center Grove at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday (Sept. 20) in a makeup of a Sept. 2 rainout, then host Bloomington North at 5:30 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 21) for the Conference Indiana championship.
