Boys JV Football
COLUMBUS, Ind. – Sophomore Ethan Rogers ran for two touchdowns and the defense scored three times to lift the Columbus North JV football team to a 41-0 shutout over Franklin on Saturday (Aug. 19) at Max Andress Field.
Rogers scored touchdowns on runs of 11 and 10 yards, while the defense provided points on a fumble return, a safety and an interception return.
Sophomore Jon Dale scored on a 3-yard fumble return, and Franklin sophomore QB Sam Albright was tackled in the end zone for a safety. Later, CN sophomore Hunter Huser returned an interception 54 yards for a touchdown.
Junior Luke Riley and sophomore Daveed Jolley also provided TDs for the Bull Dogs. Junior Dylan England connected with Riley for a 17-yard scoring pass, and Jolley found the end zone on a 2-yard run.
In Franklin, Preston Terrell scored three touchdowns as the Bull Dogs’ freshman team posted a 40-20 victory against the Grizzly Cubs.
Terrell ran 20 yards for one score and had two TD receptions, including one that covered 65 yards. Cody Ruble threw for both TD passes. Blake Huffman had scoring runs of 60 and 4 yards, while Royce Lofton had a 57-yard punt return for a touchdown. Carter Ward converted four extra points.
The CN defense combined for five sacks and multiple tackles for loss.
Both teams are now 1-0 and return to action next Saturday (Aug. 26) at home against Columbus East. The freshman game is at 10 a.m. and the JV follows at noon at The Max.
