Columbus North beats Bloomington North 74-28 in girls basketball, claims undisputed Conference Indiana title

                BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Sophomore Annie Anderson scored 11 of her game-high 17 points in the first quarter Friday night (Jan. 19), leading the Columbus North girls basketball team to a 74-28 victory at Bloomington North.

                Seniors Jenna Borger and Liz Tynan each added 11 points for the Bull Dogs, who improved to 16-5 overall and clinched an undisputed Conference Indiana championship at 7-0. The league crown is CN’s seventh in a row and ninth in the 21-year history of the conference.

                Senior Kelsey Patberg chipped in eight points and sophomore Brooke Bruin tallied six points for the Bull Dogs. Sophomore Tessa Lomax and freshman Alexa McKinley each had five points.

                Sophomore Ainsley Urbanski scored eight points to pace the Cougars (4-16, 1-5).

                Anderson netted 11 points while Tynan tallied five points and senior Kenzie Patberg had four points in the first quarter as Columbus North raced to a 22-7 lead. Kelsey Patberg scored six points and Borger chipped in four points as the Bull Dogs pushed the count to 38-11 at intermission.

                Tynan scored six points and Borger had five points in the third quarter the visitors led 62-14 at the third stop. Bruin scored six points in the final period as CN ultimately played 15 players and saw 11 of them score.

                In the JV game, sophomores Sierra Norman and Kaylyn Bates each scored 11 points as Columbus North captured a 56-22 decision. McKinley chipped in seven points while freshman Hannah Bramlett netted six points for the Bull Dogs (17-1). Bruin, sophomore Riley Eder and freshman Madison White each had five points. Sophomore Bentlei Grooms led Bloomington North with 11 points.

                There was no freshman game.

                Columbus North returns to action on Tuesday (Jan. 23) when it visits Whiteland. The Bull Dogs then conclude their regular season on Thursday (Jan. 25) when they host Roncalli for Senior Night. JV games begin at 6 p.m. both nights, with varsity contests to follow about 7:30 p.m.
