Girls Varsity Basketball
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Columbus North trio of Maliah Howard-Bass, Imani Guy and Ashlyn Huffman combined for six points and five rebounds Tuesday evening (June 7) as the Indiana Junior All-Stars lost 111-79 to the Indiana Senior All-Stars in an exhibition game at Bloomington South.
Miss Basketball Jackie Young of Princeton led the Seniors with 26 points, three rebounds and three assists. Tyasha Harris of Heritage Christian added 19 points, seven rebounds and six assists, while Kristen Spolyar of Lebanon and Cameron Onken of Lafayette Central Catholic each contributed 12 points.
Karissa McLaughlin of Homestead led the Junior All-Stars with 19 points and four rebounds. Madison Wise of Greenfield-Central chipped in 16 points and four rebounds for the Juniors, while Riley Blackwell of Plainfield netted eight points. Howard-Bass tallied four points and four rebounds, while Guy had two points and one rebound. Huffman dealt two assists but did not score.
In the boys’ game, Eugene German of Gary 21st Century tossed in 19 points to lead the Senior All-Stars to a 118-96 triumph. C.J. Walker of Indianapolis Tech provided 17 points, six rebounds and six assists, while Mr. Basketball Kyle Guy of Lawrence Central added 16 points and six rebounds. Joey Brunk of Southport also had 16 points plus eight rebounds, while Kyle Mallers of Carroll (Fort Wayne) netted 13 points.
Kris Wilkes of North Central topped the Junior boys with 19 points and four rebounds. Paul Scruggs of Southport tallied 15 points, eight rebounds and nine assists, while Sasha Stephanovic of Crown Point had 15 points. Michael Ertel of Mt. Vernon (Fortville) chipped in 11 points and six rebounds. Jack Nunge of Castle had 10 points and three rebounds.
The Junior All-Stars get one more chance at the Senior All-Stars on Thursday (June 9) at Lebanon High School. The girls’ games begins at 6 p.m., and the boys follow.
The Senior All-Stars face the Kentucky All-Stars on Saturday (June 11) at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis and on Sunday (June 12) at Knights Hall at Bellarmine University in Louisville. The girls’ game begins at 5 p.m. on Saturday, and the girls start at 1 p.m. on Sunday. The boys follow each day.
